Development of Medical Image Displaying System in Wireless Ultra Mobile PC

Abstract
Currently, the research on a mobile emergency medical system for providing high-level remote medical service according to an optimized mobile communication environment is being actively progressed. The present research designed and developed a radiological image information system that makes people be able to fast inquire and read radiologic images at remote sit from a hospital by using UMPC which is a mobile terminal using a wireless environment. The development tool of its total program was realized by using a Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0, SQLite 3.0 being used for DBMS (Database Management System), and the JPEG2000 Library of Pegasus Imaging Corporation was used for compression of medical images. This system has convenience and operability that a reading doctor can easily inquire images and read by using a terminal with convenient portability called UMPC. Also, this system has merits that inquire image within several seconds to several tens of seconds by reducing a network burden with a compression method called JPEG2000 having excellent video quality in spite of a high compression ratio. When we view an aspect that the web PACS uses a commercialized, universalized wireless network environment such as WIBRO, HSDPA, WIFI and others, it is changed from the PC based web PACS to the UMPC based web PACS. In conclusion, the present research designed and manufactured a medical image information system so that the image can be freely inquired and read by being freed from space-time called a hospital.
